Happy Halloween!

BOO!    Every year, my daughter's school has a big costume contest..... She decided that she & 2 of her close friends  wanted to be Hershey's kisses. The satin silver material that I used was a NIGHTMARE to work with... but ALAS....

                                                        A Hershey's Kiss!!!!

and of course they needed purses to hold their kisses in....

I'm happy to say that I am done working with silver satin ;)

What a long, strange trip it's been...

It has been a strange few weeks... How much quilting have I done? zero.. My blooming nine-patch is at least pinned.. with the help of Fenway

my big helper....

I had the pleasure of having a girls' weekend in NH with a dear friend & our children where she took me took the largest quilting store in NE~ Keepsake Quilting

I was a tad over-excited.....

I have also been working on my daughter & her friends' halloween costumes.. Hershey's kisses'

My daughter (who has not had Any interest in sewing) made my  YEAR by asking me if she could sew the headbands for their costumes.. She & her friend both used a sewing machine for the first time

                                                  PROUD MAMA ;) !!!!!!

I've also been VERY busy with making a memory video out of photos for a dear friend who tragically lost her brother recently.. so  so sad... and wrong. Let your loved ones know that you loved them, because you never know what could happen in the next minute....

I spent some time on this rainy Saturday, ( while the dvds were burning) making this little girls'  hat..

My hope is to put it on ETSY as well. I think that I can customize the sizes so the the top has that super- cute-slouchy look...

I was hoping to have an actual head to try in on, but my 14-yr old chose not to be my model.

Go figure?

hugs to all...

Finished Amy Butler tote!!

It's finished!! I *love* love* love* this bag!!

I made it with the new 'love' collection  by Amy Butler..

I'm off to Etsy with this one ;) Making a duplicate for me ..

I made 4 smaller pockets rather than the 2 large pockets that the pattern stated..
It will be a perfect knitting bag!!!

Oh, this excitement is too much for me!!

More Quilts for Kids & bags ;)

A few of the girls finished their quilts on Monday

They asked me if we could do this again in the Spring. Of course I said yes!

The backing for my blooming- nine patch has been more difficult to put together than the whole front of the quilt!!!
What was I thinking when I picked this fabric?  Oh, yeah, it was on clearance!  So try # 6 at matching seams has brought me to this and it is not perfect, but I can't see it from an airplane, so it is staying ;) My hope is that once it's quilted it won't be that noticeable..

Now I need an extra set of hands to help me sandwich the 3 layers...Can't wait for the kids to get home :)

Breezy,  how do you like these fabrics?  The lighter one will be the base of the bag, the brown the top & the dark purple the inside....

New Amy Butler fabric!!!!!! It's from the 'love' collection for my tote bag..

The fabric is pinker than the picture shows.

Can't wait to see it all finished!!!!

Pictures from Tumbleweed Quilts

These are the pictures that Mary took in the shop yesterday...

If you scroll down & click on the Tumbletalk  link you can get a closer view of the pictures
just click 'more quilts' in blog archives October... it's on the right

Don't mind my goofy smile....

Another day....

and I have my first  Frenchy Bag!!

I made this one out of fabric that I had bought a long time ago for... well, I have no idea why I bought this fabric, but I had enough to experiment, so I did!

The inside of the purse is fully-lined with 2 large pockets. There is also a magnetic snap to keep it closed.

When I actually go out to buy fabric to make these, the inside lining will be different but coordinating with the front fabric.

Where this was a practice bag and I had all of this lovely fabric, I just used matching inside & out.

I was going to make a matching small wallet/ key chain holder, but sadly, I ran out of interfacing, so they will have to wait....

My pattern also has instructions for a larger tote bag of the same design... I can't wait to make that!!

My daughter will certainly give me the hairy eyeball when I show up at her soccer game this afternoon sporting this.....

*giggle*

**ALSO** while visiting Tumbleweed Quilts yesterday, Mary took my picture with 2 of my quilts. You can see these pictures by visiting her blog

Yay!! October is here!!!!!

I just got back form a trip to my favorite quilting shop,  Tumbleweed Quilts.
If you ever find yourself on Cape Cod, this is a must to visit. So many wonderful fabrics!! So many designers....

So the wonderful ladies there confirmed what My husband & friends have told me about my blooming-nine patch.. to leave the center fabric that I'm not crazy about alone.

SO after finally making that decision it was time to pick a backing. I was lucky enough to fine this fabric in the close-out room for half -price

I think it will go nicely together.. and at half-price, I couldn't beat it!

I also bought a few funky fat quarters ~ not quite sure what I'll do with them, but I just love 'em!!

And lastly, I bought a pattern for an Amy Butler bag that looks oh-so-cute! I will attempt it with scraps to make sure that It comes out right, then I will pick one of Amy's wonderful fabrics  to make one 'for-real'..

and that will mean.. another trip to Tumbleweeds!!!!

Time to put the borders on my quilt!! oxox
