A friend of mine is also trying to learn to make the paper-pieced hexagons. I have tried explaining it to her & decided that a short visual explanation might make more sense, since I really don;t know all of the proper terms & I have just started this myself.<br />
<br />
From the research that I've done, there are many ways to do this; this is what I have found to work for me. If this doesn't work for you, by all means try something different ;)<br />
<br />
I purchased my paper hexagons I'm using 1 inch hexagons. Why? Just because ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw1-ecP5J1JIShNYg1VziL9oyW3YS0Qgoz1qny599RhtK35N5aDJo-j6UTCB7e63PWkZGHJAy6Px9k1fQlgMG3Mn-VOOfQIJnM3DTLoSAY12B5vOTmP782YlVPs1sOmGyzeIrVD7N2Zek/s1600/IMG_6316.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw1-ecP5J1JIShNYg1VziL9oyW3YS0Qgoz1qny599RhtK35N5aDJo-j6UTCB7e63PWkZGHJAy6Px9k1fQlgMG3Mn-VOOfQIJnM3DTLoSAY12B5vOTmP782YlVPs1sOmGyzeIrVD7N2Zek/s320/IMG_6316.JPG" /></a></div>I started by rough cutting my pre-washed & pressed fabric a seam- allowance bigger than my paper piece. It doesn't have to be perfect, the straight-edge of the paper will create a nice, even line.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4xjOpbGZbhQKIGx2lM3aiYbNLjy18ac1NYMvuL8TY5V50S6EM-_iVc-Mh9FTx6Wj_9M6BwQR5BSsAte_mjZ7aIUxCi1j60V6zfJB98Ol5OKlGcNQdGpcqtwPXPkPJdzSkYn88m0Jdts0/s1600/IMG_6300.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4xjOpbGZbhQKIGx2lM3aiYbNLjy18ac1NYMvuL8TY5V50S6EM-_iVc-Mh9FTx6Wj_9M6BwQR5BSsAte_mjZ7aIUxCi1j60V6zfJB98Ol5OKlGcNQdGpcqtwPXPkPJdzSkYn88m0Jdts0/s320/IMG_6300.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Next I place the paper piece on the wrong side of the fabric & use a straight pin to hold in place<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl-50V1eUt-zaKG-IbWER_LZlhR_S5NnOwXcw6OV7DICY1Vg_2AxSfnM_KAH2AEM21dXiWc91fnYriokhWrPaQ-ghmapZ7dN9LWJHIOhfk_DC2oTJ50fcBfe4afpkv4_PbxsJbCcHj9uc/s1600/IMG_6301.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl-50V1eUt-zaKG-IbWER_LZlhR_S5NnOwXcw6OV7DICY1Vg_2AxSfnM_KAH2AEM21dXiWc91fnYriokhWrPaQ-ghmapZ7dN9LWJHIOhfk_DC2oTJ50fcBfe4afpkv4_PbxsJbCcHj9uc/s320/IMG_6301.JPG" /></a></div> Then I fold two pieces of the fabric over one corner, sort of like wrapping a present<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhetPaIOHVdp_kmWE9595plSOsao0zR-64KO0sqDe8pyVwsIgGK8h3bQI6x4ySF_k0LlzbTBPJ_UUOaYjHvLDDdm1cku0NjoR3Gd2hleG-ob2K4tqLNpgugN5VsAy2yCGbg4kn6lnJRyuQ/s1600/IMG_6302.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhetPaIOHVdp_kmWE9595plSOsao0zR-64KO0sqDe8pyVwsIgGK8h3bQI6x4ySF_k0LlzbTBPJ_UUOaYjHvLDDdm1cku0NjoR3Gd2hleG-ob2K4tqLNpgugN5VsAy2yCGbg4kn6lnJRyuQ/s320/IMG_6302.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgph3dIFR8wXAZoW8-dTfaoo5jV1olTj22j8Ciy4BGnw1wceQLgzFLnBM5c99VQ_Cp_NH9YeJB3CsPXnWfPnE5VKWPRT0WWu-rRLPWQ_B1O3k-1ZjYQblr4oMx0v2iDabr3qg7_mCIO5Zg/s1600/IMG_6303.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgph3dIFR8wXAZoW8-dTfaoo5jV1olTj22j8Ciy4BGnw1wceQLgzFLnBM5c99VQ_Cp_NH9YeJB3CsPXnWfPnE5VKWPRT0WWu-rRLPWQ_B1O3k-1ZjYQblr4oMx0v2iDabr3qg7_mCIO5Zg/s320/IMG_6303.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I then use my thread ( I'm using white hand quilting thread) to pick up both pieces of the fabric in the corner, without going through the paper<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxRvens7jqMYmJFuFnpVQXP0izzhmN5DObt-Dv02LrWY5eTcp7_U2E4rWMZc43rDd45Ho-C1Iyb05hElATnpn3uxKNtOYL6rA-qEqkc6wu9hx8-v67mw_uftVV8TlIhyphenhyphen5WV4lYeguf5Jw/s1600/IMG_6304.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxRvens7jqMYmJFuFnpVQXP0izzhmN5DObt-Dv02LrWY5eTcp7_U2E4rWMZc43rDd45Ho-C1Iyb05hElATnpn3uxKNtOYL6rA-qEqkc6wu9hx8-v67mw_uftVV8TlIhyphenhyphen5WV4lYeguf5Jw/s320/IMG_6304.JPG" /></a></div>I stitched twice over the same area, giving the thread a brief tug to make sure that it was secure.<br />
<br />
Next I move to the next corner, same thing.. I just make sure that my thread is taught, but not pulling.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv4UaoKRvUchXDnv256uSr0mLtSTfBmrDQ3XUSxFDOgHQM_q5JdyDfBC5gsUMWxSwKMqcJHQq4NY0XsRn53lmId554WSzh8HaYcy7B12hu5Tydl_-m1cR23r13XIGlOrEYGdInm8J7Alk/s1600/IMG_6309.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv4UaoKRvUchXDnv256uSr0mLtSTfBmrDQ3XUSxFDOgHQM_q5JdyDfBC5gsUMWxSwKMqcJHQq4NY0XsRn53lmId554WSzh8HaYcy7B12hu5Tydl_-m1cR23r13XIGlOrEYGdInm8J7Alk/s320/IMG_6309.JPG" /></a></div>Again, 2 stitches through both pieces of fabric<br />
<br />
<br />
When all corners are stitched, I do a final stay stitch then cut the thread.<br />
<br />
Make another (or 50, they ARE addicting!!) hexagons.<br />
<br />
To attach them together, place right sides together & with co-ordinating fabric whip stitch the edges together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqo-b8Mw6VZ7th5FS-bI-i1xi24ie5jdqyxeC4-wvx-wR_YW2El2aPgggwnj2pQ807JmLB5PA4fUCN0AX2oQXkT5OMDGZBFKQ5XgdO7IcfZwbFCEkMXYJeb5EQqY4SgmvLsc6PR0YvPFo/s1600/IMG_6311.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqo-b8Mw6VZ7th5FS-bI-i1xi24ie5jdqyxeC4-wvx-wR_YW2El2aPgggwnj2pQ807JmLB5PA4fUCN0AX2oQXkT5OMDGZBFKQ5XgdO7IcfZwbFCEkMXYJeb5EQqY4SgmvLsc6PR0YvPFo/s320/IMG_6311.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Continue whipstitching the edges together in desired pattern..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc5ii646fW1YYI2Q0wEDia8aTF8Fvhfil3-nk1K1ELMuHCadHlouH_VliDcuiS3LR0-cQrKP6Qm5J0rIB1_qN54aMHnWAKw2Zdxep3z60hzP197neaOK9zyNQsFUlT_ddhSNrtU8lWxX0/s1600/IMG_6312.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc5ii646fW1YYI2Q0wEDia8aTF8Fvhfil3-nk1K1ELMuHCadHlouH_VliDcuiS3LR0-cQrKP6Qm5J0rIB1_qN54aMHnWAKw2Zdxep3z60hzP197neaOK9zyNQsFUlT_ddhSNrtU8lWxX0/s320/IMG_6312.JPG" /></a></div><br />

<br />
I have not finished this flower yet, but when I do, I will update the blog ( I promise, it won't be long)<br />
<br />
When flower is complete, then paper pieces can be removed & reused. I think that I will only remove the inner-most pieces so that I have 'body' to work with when I get to the point of actually assembling all of my flowers to be into my quilt.<br />
<br />
<br />
I hope that I haven't confused you too much.. I welcome feedback from anyone who has suggestions on how I could improve these...<br />

<br />
<br />
Some of you may already know, but I am scheduled for a long- awaited surgery at the end of this month that will have me incapacitated for the majority of the summer. Since I do not sit still well at all, I have been busy trying to find projects to help me occupy my 6 weeks of recovery.<br />
<br />
One of my projects is learning to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDrTVi0jk6w">English Paper Piece</a>.<br />
<br />
My friends at <a href="http://www.tumbleweedquilts.com/subindexB.html">Tumbleweed Quilts</a> have helped me get started on this process. What a great group of ladies!!!!<br />
Making hexagons is something that I believe can only be done by hand, so it is the perfect project for me to try this summer.<br />
<br />
Here is the beginnings of my hexagons<br />

</div>I found this quilt online and the pattern is Grandmother's flower garden. I am trying to find what website that I found this on, but cannot. I will continue to try and in the meantime give credit to whomever made this beautiful quilt!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIDL4VIqNfLZUASvXqd6NmdqQnxNLhTTejMGDJ4eFzoFySttDOz2tFecCs1A0cur-bXPDoMSBrJhSGdFK4eaCdgh1nfgTRayH5wbdHQiRqvjV8hE0MmhjWxaPTMX3OT6Srzyb1QGkns6Q/s1600/gflgard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIDL4VIqNfLZUASvXqd6NmdqQnxNLhTTejMGDJ4eFzoFySttDOz2tFecCs1A0cur-bXPDoMSBrJhSGdFK4eaCdgh1nfgTRayH5wbdHQiRqvjV8hE0MmhjWxaPTMX3OT6Srzyb1QGkns6Q/s320/gflgard.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Given the nature of the quilt, I wanted to make mine with 'antiquey' types of fabrics. The ladies at Tumbleweed Quilts assisted me in picking out circa 1930's reproduction prints..<br />
<br />

<br />
I have other projects planned as well & will keep up to date with my progress on my blog :)<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading & stayed tuned for my very next project... decorating my crutches.. I get them tomorrow.<br />
<br />
(you didn't think that I would have boring crutches, did you? )<br />

<br />
<br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">and although I had great response with it, many thought that it was a baby quilt...<br />

<br />
MY problem, I've used it as my constant purse/ tote ever since.... I really love this cheery bag!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXuHAH8HEtOUFT2iQ7jS2Vsjp5w4A6lhPrcpybe0E9cPMgs3WxR5Fy8KQIzw8MfR7S_0GxEmIehwjnAmjyAVKMXIaMO8OTLbQ3XHD1pzJw0NMsphKIkyR6NoDWnLh0DTXfXtXzDq4Er6M/s1600-h/IMG_5569.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXuHAH8HEtOUFT2iQ7jS2Vsjp5w4A6lhPrcpybe0E9cPMgs3WxR5Fy8KQIzw8MfR7S_0GxEmIehwjnAmjyAVKMXIaMO8OTLbQ3XHD1pzJw0NMsphKIkyR6NoDWnLh0DTXfXtXzDq4Er6M/s320/IMG_5569.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><br />
I even made a special pocket inside just for my Ipod......<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcY8mmJrgKWxzgjwJeHhyphenhyphen1qega9aAZL7O0jsq7WohEwH7cA2_eetPkhhXVDRv9kl4ow9qAg8gAWvJHoUxX5-xKpRpndqALqxc4lA45xWC7Mfl7nAKxu32qwfY4A0EHm-ZDb0Q4vlXTCA0/s1600-h/IMG_5571.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcY8mmJrgKWxzgjwJeHhyphenhyphen1qega9aAZL7O0jsq7WohEwH7cA2_eetPkhhXVDRv9kl4ow9qAg8gAWvJHoUxX5-xKpRpndqALqxc4lA45xWC7Mfl7nAKxu32qwfY4A0EHm-ZDb0Q4vlXTCA0/s320/IMG_5571.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><br />
<br />
but it also works perfectly to hold my lip gloss on the go........ Maybe I need to make another tote JUST for the gym..<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqDGBn5r_iKiptKXjvY3IgMmXDFyJ68ovUcdKJTA5hueO5K9aOdq-x8SAaQZqT7yT9icUw_CRY2-GQHz7z2rGbshR1MPeommwzgemJhTpT263ViZ4onYfr6oqgLAsGRcuf9Hx49t_Pgps/s1600-h/IMG_5573.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqDGBn5r_iKiptKXjvY3IgMmXDFyJ68ovUcdKJTA5hueO5K9aOdq-x8SAaQZqT7yT9icUw_CRY2-GQHz7z2rGbshR1MPeommwzgemJhTpT263ViZ4onYfr6oqgLAsGRcuf9Hx49t_Pgps/s320/IMG_5573.jpg" /></a><br />
</div>I finished the quilt top ( minus the borders) for the circle quilt.....<br />
<br />
This quilt makes me smile!!! I used a blank CD to cut out the circles form a charm pack!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN-Swk1Slgi1Wcqzw9HxeanIa-rgt2DViLlWi-9MjSv0kCI4nE28y3Lx65E8OjQ_g0ujWrRrVMaS9iar5QjW3lyODkxggwpRPiVBajBAFeV92vcIev0JdFeqiUYwD9lQp9EiDKnRPtHHE/s1600-h/IMG_5574.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN-Swk1Slgi1Wcqzw9HxeanIa-rgt2DViLlWi-9MjSv0kCI4nE28y3Lx65E8OjQ_g0ujWrRrVMaS9iar5QjW3lyODkxggwpRPiVBajBAFeV92vcIev0JdFeqiUYwD9lQp9EiDKnRPtHHE/s320/IMG_5574.jpg" /></a><br />
</div>and lastly, I got the <a href="http://www.quiltsforkids.org/">Quilts for Kids</a> quilt all ready to quilt and realized that I didn't have navy thread for the bobbin.....so her she sits, awaiting ......<br />
<br />
I am VERY excited to actually 'quilt' on my new machine...<br />
<br />
after a busy birthday weekend for my daughter last weekend<br />

</div>About this bag right here....<br />
<br />
<br />
I have been looking for a yoga mat bag that I liked and could not find one..... Why it took me so long to figure out that I could just make one, I'll never know....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYzaUs8V-jgrmqTd4_Pq6q8GA184SaptJUHRnBxGMtcD5Dltx5wV5XEKDPkCLxoA99C57wW235ZJAdHhNj-siey4k_Ler_T5XDDEr7MBkHyme-eY4qjHbIthA85sVRV5aTxOonBVuF2xE/s1600-h/IMG_5402.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYzaUs8V-jgrmqTd4_Pq6q8GA184SaptJUHRnBxGMtcD5Dltx5wV5XEKDPkCLxoA99C57wW235ZJAdHhNj-siey4k_Ler_T5XDDEr7MBkHyme-eY4qjHbIthA85sVRV5aTxOonBVuF2xE/s320/IMG_5402.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>I used fabric from <a href="http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/products/fabrics_top.php?fabric=midwest-modern&flid=12">Amy Butler's Modern midwest collection</a> and fully lined it with a co-ordinating pink polka dot fabric<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRZ3OorqUez01Jz07_ve1DFpZnmTNM-Qh1AQTi1NBC0jhvYxypEn_ejm1t1hLh7UB9RDymbM1sQV_1-GWYtZfilf42u-PtbZbdwJS65pc2NhuCJq0M2F7Hn3oUiDqArEdPjd73GGxrsK8/s1600-h/IMG_5403.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRZ3OorqUez01Jz07_ve1DFpZnmTNM-Qh1AQTi1NBC0jhvYxypEn_ejm1t1hLh7UB9RDymbM1sQV_1-GWYtZfilf42u-PtbZbdwJS65pc2NhuCJq0M2F7Hn3oUiDqArEdPjd73GGxrsK8/s320/IMG_5403.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><br />
I also made 3 large pockets on the front to carry water bottles, gym membership cards.. etc..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikI4GOpC0Pvb41g6PnXql8tDdFACAcMQ16rTgGWlbwbgvgcib2VpjGJXJcjcr4FES_CgJ4o3U2oqdfbmQAeIbTXSNJwLDR1BaJ8BVyaDW6IH54wqY01epX02X-xN3binMQvlga88MkYFs/s1600-h/IMG_5404.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikI4GOpC0Pvb41g6PnXql8tDdFACAcMQ16rTgGWlbwbgvgcib2VpjGJXJcjcr4FES_CgJ4o3U2oqdfbmQAeIbTXSNJwLDR1BaJ8BVyaDW6IH54wqY01epX02X-xN3binMQvlga88MkYFs/s320/IMG_5404.jpg" /></a><br />
</div>I just love this bag ;) I am going to try to make a matching small gym bag now........<br />
<br />
This stuff makes me smile !!!<br />

<br />

</div>my New sewing machine!!!!!.. She arrived this past Friday at about 2:30 pm. She weighed in at about 20 pounds and she is all that I dreamed that she would be.!!.. We are still deciding on a name for her , so for now we will call her ...I'll get back to you...<br />
<br />
I have the quilt top for the '<a href="http://quiltsforkids.org/">Quilts for kids</a>' that I was working on finished......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-QEOn4hvo5CPMr-12x5Dl2nL3mfJxQTH4hdlnGLHcsGEb7G9AvCHJPRa6pXKHrhULnt_ZXrbTdlhcSSoh-gvJTBGkCnDa1aFyDHeCNcNEL8PVhQ83Um8u-Ld8WCdjOrz9SzuZ7YxUQQI/s1600-h/IMG_5393.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-QEOn4hvo5CPMr-12x5Dl2nL3mfJxQTH4hdlnGLHcsGEb7G9AvCHJPRa6pXKHrhULnt_ZXrbTdlhcSSoh-gvJTBGkCnDa1aFyDHeCNcNEL8PVhQ83Um8u-Ld8WCdjOrz9SzuZ7YxUQQI/s320/IMG_5393.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><br />
this is a great organization...... for any of you out there if you contact them, they will send you a pre-cut kit to make your quilt.. all that you need to do is provide the batting .. and the love... They are asking that you match them by making a quilt out of your own stash, but this is because there is such a need for the quilts ... so many kids....<br />
<br />
<br />
I've also been working on my circle quilt..... I really don't have a pattern.... I used a blank CD to cut out the circles... appliqued them on to whit Kona cotton squares ( trying to use up my bobbins from my old machine) ...then ....at my daughter's suggestion, filled in with co-ordinating squares....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq7buK-DO_mL0uUTNMOcOlF6CD4uUF0yF7WPrhamtm4OIyhRQkgPqU-HbUjJ2Rx5OwE5iT7Yw3n8Qvwkff8SH2wZolso-CDKCcpiR87AmxzO2SxSuc8zraMBffzv7v5ueUtZtSrRWhOjE/s1600-h/IMG_5397.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq7buK-DO_mL0uUTNMOcOlF6CD4uUF0yF7WPrhamtm4OIyhRQkgPqU-HbUjJ2Rx5OwE5iT7Yw3n8Qvwkff8SH2wZolso-CDKCcpiR87AmxzO2SxSuc8zraMBffzv7v5ueUtZtSrRWhOjE/s320/IMG_5397.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>this may look like a mess to you, but I assure you.. this makes PERFECT sense in my head...... really!<br />
<br />
I finished a bag for one of my closest friends....<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN7_U1q6LJLNnCPe7yNvJx7t5AH0Fv_C_01EKyEZDMYNs17TKYHFufdXoFzRgloqG7J7BYEjQcR4G6s9rGzNbmV5d1FKy_UaB-FT7kKTB2Xg5BtKkaMelDcQ8Rg970J5JS5zvBwgwMgBE/s1600-h/IMG_5395.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN7_U1q6LJLNnCPe7yNvJx7t5AH0Fv_C_01EKyEZDMYNs17TKYHFufdXoFzRgloqG7J7BYEjQcR4G6s9rGzNbmV5d1FKy_UaB-FT7kKTB2Xg5BtKkaMelDcQ8Rg970J5JS5zvBwgwMgBE/s320/IMG_5395.jpg" /></a><br />
</div>and since I finally gave it to her, I can post this picture.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO6vBup6zSUkeKhAwC98WrdkjuHHx7mcFzUdLtKivemRcGWQ_uwYPYKyLoDI2X2a2JIBCMo34dNx8vg-r62ULPnv0GjiEZrx_rfxe9cuHqIVMpQj-Z2tcvPM9vnUc4-KOsgLwRKowcs1s/s1600-h/IMG_5396.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO6vBup6zSUkeKhAwC98WrdkjuHHx7mcFzUdLtKivemRcGWQ_uwYPYKyLoDI2X2a2JIBCMo34dNx8vg-r62ULPnv0GjiEZrx_rfxe9cuHqIVMpQj-Z2tcvPM9vnUc4-KOsgLwRKowcs1s/s320/IMG_5396.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><br />
I just love my little labels! They make me smile ;)<br />
<br />
Last thing that I've done is (in trying to use up scraps) made this little square<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnzvnTYG3DxjycEX_5sEotHyeFjAhHwP-ceLMWecDybuemU62saSeW99fHQC2HzrKNQ15-vIAaQaBaa2MluZsUskj52RQB-80pEDvArMq88tZxIE_3q09lEE_lDCA8zCF7q6IAgYdM9ak/s1600-h/IMG_5398.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnzvnTYG3DxjycEX_5sEotHyeFjAhHwP-ceLMWecDybuemU62saSeW99fHQC2HzrKNQ15-vIAaQaBaa2MluZsUskj52RQB-80pEDvArMq88tZxIE_3q09lEE_lDCA8zCF7q6IAgYdM9ak/s320/IMG_5398.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><br />
It is going to be the front of a messenger-style purse for me...(somehow.. I just haven't figured out how) I made it with some of my favorite Amy Butler fabrics.......<br />
<br />
ok... I'm off to play wii fit with my daughter.. and think of how to turn that square up there in a purse...<br />
<br />
Happy Sunday!!!!<br />

<br />
I took the majority of the month of December to create a <a href="http://barefootgirlcookies.blogspot.com/">cookie blog</a>.... quite counter-active to all of my weight watcher stuff... but.. I had a blast doing it & wouldn't change that for the world.<br />
<br />
or the 10 pounds that I put on....<br />
<br />
During all of this I was sewing my little heart out making quilts<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZLLHr2scr38hg_bB33JGo5hsvBtUMQ2yjPTubNJsANjpa4OJsDt9ktvzSkiLPmPFlw0Wux_UZpN_6HoTzehspJWf_hw7ilB4jXC0axAM4XIbTxEF93VUzftYqxfNvQasVv9_M3mk2bSs/s1600-h/IMG_5158.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZLLHr2scr38hg_bB33JGo5hsvBtUMQ2yjPTubNJsANjpa4OJsDt9ktvzSkiLPmPFlw0Wux_UZpN_6HoTzehspJWf_hw7ilB4jXC0axAM4XIbTxEF93VUzftYqxfNvQasVv9_M3mk2bSs/s320/IMG_5158.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><br />
<br />
for loved ones...<br />
<br />
Frenchy bags for friends & family.. I've made many, and won't bore you with all of the photos, but here is my daughter-in-law Amanda Christmas morning obviously very excited !!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQZqlW3nM5hhN8TceQVh2M-XwUjzPWHibC4TEhxDg_cC6vQgkpwsX1KvTghesH0TJdKk1i0bqpwfEaOrzSaq4mEDF1zpRKDBQl7yRZ54oKM2G3QEHhTOaSVO1S0KIsVm8pRrkR4GeExWM/s1600-h/IMG_5339.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQZqlW3nM5hhN8TceQVh2M-XwUjzPWHibC4TEhxDg_cC6vQgkpwsX1KvTghesH0TJdKk1i0bqpwfEaOrzSaq4mEDF1zpRKDBQl7yRZ54oKM2G3QEHhTOaSVO1S0KIsVm8pRrkR4GeExWM/s320/IMG_5339.jpg" /></a><br />

and making my own version of the snuggy... the michnugglie!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkR3MsCf0lrfZfNn6UfHJFO_FBsUL890yvcXXv1XgsId4os0AqLe4Z4itnFnn8XXFw7G6Zl-L66TUsqXzqqAWZSqRL2-ZDOvxdVisBjCk23HHgsrEuk_6iEmdcU2lwG5DBtOpdvb5Ujhg/s1600-h/IMG_5388.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkR3MsCf0lrfZfNn6UfHJFO_FBsUL890yvcXXv1XgsId4os0AqLe4Z4itnFnn8XXFw7G6Zl-L66TUsqXzqqAWZSqRL2-ZDOvxdVisBjCk23HHgsrEuk_6iEmdcU2lwG5DBtOpdvb5Ujhg/s320/IMG_5388.jpg" /></a><br />
</div>... so the Christmas decorations are put away... the cookies are in the freezer ( for the occasional snack for the rest of the family) and I am back to(one of my most) favorite hobbies.. sewing!!!<br />
<br />
<br />
I am awaiting my new sewing machine *big smile* and in the mean time I am working on many projects that I have started... oh yeah, wait, they are called ufo's, right?<br />
<br />
<br />
I have started by working on yet another quilt for <a href="http://www.quiltsforkids.org/">Quilts for kids</a>... an organization in need of many quilts for so many children... I thought to myself, 'self, what better way to start of the new year than to make another quilt for a child who will love it'..<br />
<br />
so here is the start of it....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMWXy31wO3EkkM7YXYbrJO_0KbMuXCwjI_b0sYrf-cH8QtjtTH_swnhNVjuMHbg3xWVXS9FhW67GOBSTi2Obkh6ryIViC5e8LpBQMaGGiqYp114Wexe6VLWkZbpBy5X7H8NAiVahzPPLo/s1600-h/IMG_5390.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMWXy31wO3EkkM7YXYbrJO_0KbMuXCwjI_b0sYrf-cH8QtjtTH_swnhNVjuMHbg3xWVXS9FhW67GOBSTi2Obkh6ryIViC5e8LpBQMaGGiqYp114Wexe6VLWkZbpBy5X7H8NAiVahzPPLo/s320/IMG_5390.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>That floral part is actually my new ironing board cover... after 20 years of the same one, it was time... man, what a difference!!!<br />
<br />
I hope that this bright colored quilt will make some child very happy....<br />
<br />
I am also working on a belated Christmas gift ( hey, I'm not perfect ) for someone who means a lot to me...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv5TJOPAeUr_6WDBeE6J9axBtp-i5HmMgbTAlPnzknRpgdEo2hHd6zjUBpvIh6Vu5WMZuUksmm3tyM5PXD2i692MbmJ8Azg2kTJ2fNl6vPSEc5BAyRHMWNL3iDVNOaaVxK488GBSB2qJM/s1600-h/IMG_5389.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv5TJOPAeUr_6WDBeE6J9axBtp-i5HmMgbTAlPnzknRpgdEo2hHd6zjUBpvIh6Vu5WMZuUksmm3tyM5PXD2i692MbmJ8Azg2kTJ2fNl6vPSEc5BAyRHMWNL3iDVNOaaVxK488GBSB2qJM/s320/IMG_5389.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><br />
I am still playing around with how to actually put it all together, but it is based on this quilt from one of my favorite bloggers who sadly has just signed off.....<br />
<br />
<a href="http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/">Amanda Jean</a><br />
<br />
Thank you Amanda! you have helped & inspired me so!!!<br />
<br />
so as I await my new machine, emptying my bobbins one by one, appliquéing circles, and creating happiness in a colorful animal quilts, I want to say, "Happy New Year!!" to all ( if any ) of you are reading.<br />
<br />
I feel a very creative year has just begun ;)<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivnxSQBOWIRzVPrlwJ_9DgP2jm3m0DTumtSBo4-bxzEBPOsgtD2nLpxcu6GSymhda87UTelKxH6QYS_gNMh2siQFQyDZB3tm7kHWNr2dj5BqWpp3xVKnddwUY9q7SNCd52aTYBzTEHidc/s1600-h/IMG_4494.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivnxSQBOWIRzVPrlwJ_9DgP2jm3m0DTumtSBo4-bxzEBPOsgtD2nLpxcu6GSymhda87UTelKxH6QYS_gNMh2siQFQyDZB3tm7kHWNr2dj5BqWpp3xVKnddwUY9q7SNCd52aTYBzTEHidc/s640/IMG_4494.jpg" /></a><br />
</div>I have made it entirely of scraps from my 'stash'.....<br />
many of the fabrics that I used are leftovers from things that I've already made her . eg: curtains, pillows, fleece throw.. etc...<br />
<br />
It may be a bit loud, but I think that she will love it!<br />
<br />
*fingers crossed*barefootgirl27http://www.blogger.com/profile/16745115926947386111noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5228051054830422522.post-1835422911607925162009-10-30T12:48:00.000-04:002009-10-30T13:01:50.856-04:00Happy Halloween!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>BOO! Every year, my daughter's school has a big costume contest..... She decided that she & 2 of her close friends wanted to be Hershey's kisses. The satin silver material that I used was a NIGHTMARE to work with... but ALAS....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEGxUjLQsKdq5sI2xF6Ec6ksPf5B9dpekfKhK2ae2CG5N7cNEKQQHxQY_XJG0kNeeuREUv4Ha66MwQfwTNg0mFnJLlEOS2MDgwDmkKr1MgzRJ8f0jURCPVks89XYCZjLvRIOH8GM25a3A/s1600-h/IMG_4464.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEGxUjLQsKdq5sI2xF6Ec6ksPf5B9dpekfKhK2ae2CG5N7cNEKQQHxQY_XJG0kNeeuREUv4Ha66MwQfwTNg0mFnJLlEOS2MDgwDmkKr1MgzRJ8f0jURCPVks89XYCZjLvRIOH8GM25a3A/s400/IMG_4464.jpg" /></a><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>My daughter (who has not had Any interest in sewing) made my YEAR by asking me if she could sew the headbands for their costumes.. She & her friend both used a sewing machine for the first time<br />

</div> PROUD MAMA ;) !!!!!!<br />
<br />
I've also been VERY busy with making a memory video out of photos for a dear friend who tragically lost her brother recently.. so so sad... and wrong. Let your loved ones know that you loved them, because you never know what could happen in the next minute....<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I spent some time on this rainy Saturday, ( while the dvds were burning) making this little girls' hat..<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvq2KZpV0zm_eg5MSM7xBhyphenhyphenSjgmic4hju-eAjc-Tas69u8FrodRObf_P4IVjySvAVEz4T0hfyXKYOapn312japvS2336eBAozX87ZYWaYxI74gUyLRdFxLzu-tDmHo-FjvFWGboMbfj4I/s1600-h/IMG_4422.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvq2KZpV0zm_eg5MSM7xBhyphenhyphenSjgmic4hju-eAjc-Tas69u8FrodRObf_P4IVjySvAVEz4T0hfyXKYOapn312japvS2336eBAozX87ZYWaYxI74gUyLRdFxLzu-tDmHo-FjvFWGboMbfj4I/s320/IMG_4422.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><br />
My hope is to put it on ETSY as well. I think that I can customize the sizes so the the top has that super- cute-slouchy look...<br />
<br />
I was hoping to have an actual head to try in on, but my 14-yr old chose not to be my model.<br />
<br />
Go figure?<br />
<br />
hugs to all...<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">They asked me if we could do this again in the Spring. Of course I said yes!<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The backing for my blooming- nine patch has been more difficult to put together than the whole front of the quilt!!! <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0gGkw0K_IG3d7jSwHwOSegON3opRqGc4d6Fx2UUrJjTaEYFwRxSWfQNZ-nyohFU7RbMugni08x9AzlIzYlWwAADn_DG0RA_iQS6kSRYeWqrItt1yeLMlZR6aJlhq1eiNrVLglwseo1Bk/s1600-h/IMG_4145.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0gGkw0K_IG3d7jSwHwOSegON3opRqGc4d6Fx2UUrJjTaEYFwRxSWfQNZ-nyohFU7RbMugni08x9AzlIzYlWwAADn_DG0RA_iQS6kSRYeWqrItt1yeLMlZR6aJlhq1eiNrVLglwseo1Bk/s320/IMG_4145.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What was I thinking when I picked this fabric? Oh, yeah, it was on clearance! So try # 6 at matching seams has brought me to this and it is not perfect, but I can't see it from an airplane, so it is staying ;) My hope is that once it's quilted it won't be that noticeable..<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now I need an extra set of hands to help me sandwich the 3 layers...Can't wait for the kids to get home :)<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAZQGiecwlxbSH5xCoVcIwy927zpfe5f0uu8Hg-jfZEvPRLfP2HDoApzOgG_T4Tp-BglMQ7n2xAB-Ii3718J8ZFAVHW_x7p_PKaf9Mq87Vs8HTqjP7gBzHa7POTNxMScpn0dePLp6C0YM/s1600-h/IMG_4143.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAZQGiecwlxbSH5xCoVcIwy927zpfe5f0uu8Hg-jfZEvPRLfP2HDoApzOgG_T4Tp-BglMQ7n2xAB-Ii3718J8ZFAVHW_x7p_PKaf9Mq87Vs8HTqjP7gBzHa7POTNxMScpn0dePLp6C0YM/s320/IMG_4143.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Breezy, how do you like these fabrics? The lighter one will be the base of the bag, the brown the top & the dark purple the inside....<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The fabric is pinker than the picture shows.<br />

</div>lucky dog... At first she wouldn't go on to it, I think she thought that she shouldn't. She has now taken claim to it....<br />
<br />
So, for a rainy Saturday..<br />
<br />
Perfect for sewing, right? right. Unless you need to take you teenage daughter & her friend to the Mall.. then you find yourself poking around in the craft store for things that you didn't know that you needed......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfiqILumeODfIZXud3p7WLrOEuzUc0JxI0wWK2Sr7Gn6FKtiV10eqwGTOZwAuIkaZDyQAXX6PuPc1eKY3KED6WzHpE-7zm7A7H_hjjSUCnwpKfinKjG4OEd0V64LTkQbRSHZKWTBs0RTs/s1600-h/IMG_4135.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfiqILumeODfIZXud3p7WLrOEuzUc0JxI0wWK2Sr7Gn6FKtiV10eqwGTOZwAuIkaZDyQAXX6PuPc1eKY3KED6WzHpE-7zm7A7H_hjjSUCnwpKfinKjG4OEd0V64LTkQbRSHZKWTBs0RTs/s320/IMG_4135.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>like these funky fabrics for one of those totes... The blue will be the base, the brown polka dot will be the top & the green will be the lining....<br />
<br />
I think it has potential ... ;)<br />
<br />
And thank you to Cecelia, who sent me a fairly simple, yet beautiful scarf pattern.. I worked on it in the car on our way to brunch an hour away.. I love the way it is coming out.<br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now I am off to piece together the back of my quilt.. I wasn't thinking abut how hard that would be with the pattern that I chose.... wish me luck !<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4XFmwcOuu8OibhlfCQXF5nu3ulMSkfvDZYaM_P8b55XpmTEr4UGmPCeU9HuiRmoSiwBX-pGmQivn95V3MPB4s0WCdUZMlqwoCW6NljM0NzJKOIeP6Ga2hZZiYKfERGS8u_iL6ifJqATU/s1600-h/IMG_4124.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4XFmwcOuu8OibhlfCQXF5nu3ulMSkfvDZYaM_P8b55XpmTEr4UGmPCeU9HuiRmoSiwBX-pGmQivn95V3MPB4s0WCdUZMlqwoCW6NljM0NzJKOIeP6Ga2hZZiYKfERGS8u_iL6ifJqATU/s400/IMG_4124.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>I made this one out of fabric that I had bought a long time ago for... well, I have no idea why I bought this fabric, but I had enough to experiment, so I did!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji6VdjowySOzA5j6ZGJWRbmqoc9-PVvfea1nzU_cUmVG45vstBpb9nNZuZevgdPyrDcSAgPv45CNYSrX0R59ewaTZeEifEhfIwoTdVsBwbze9gh69I0XdArEySgiEZWRe8AUzVbH7sBjo/s1600-h/IMG_4123.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji6VdjowySOzA5j6ZGJWRbmqoc9-PVvfea1nzU_cUmVG45vstBpb9nNZuZevgdPyrDcSAgPv45CNYSrX0R59ewaTZeEifEhfIwoTdVsBwbze9gh69I0XdArEySgiEZWRe8AUzVbH7sBjo/s320/IMG_4123.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>The inside of the purse is fully-lined with 2 large pockets. There is also a magnetic snap to keep it closed.<br />
<br />
When I actually go out to buy fabric to make these, the inside lining will be different but coordinating with the front fabric.<br />
<br />
Where this was a practice bag and I had all of this lovely fabric, I just used matching inside & out.<br />
<br />
I was going to make a matching small wallet/ key chain holder, but sadly, I ran out of interfacing, so they will have to wait....<br />
<br />
<br />
My pattern also has instructions for a larger tote bag of the same design... I can't wait to make that!!<br />
<br />
My daughter will certainly give me the hairy eyeball when I show up at her soccer game this afternoon sporting this.....<br />
<br />
*giggle*<br />

October is here!!!!!I just got back form a trip to my favorite quilting shop, <a href="http://www.tumbleweedquilts.com/subindexB.html">Tumbleweed Quilts</a>.<br />
If you ever find yourself on Cape Cod, this is a must to visit. So many wonderful fabrics!! So many designers....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX4ZgRMNOQc6XAysOoeu2rHLUIj4tNtErymPTA_nN134ZoLJVrC4k43iPefgW5Aj2fZA3lJzozWSPIYgWfTBBKxSAIROSzNwaEddOgT6mPQCNmYfwiOkBcW37q5qOvm8oQ8f218WTBcjg/s1600-h/IMG_4100.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX4ZgRMNOQc6XAysOoeu2rHLUIj4tNtErymPTA_nN134ZoLJVrC4k43iPefgW5Aj2fZA3lJzozWSPIYgWfTBBKxSAIROSzNwaEddOgT6mPQCNmYfwiOkBcW37q5qOvm8oQ8f218WTBcjg/s400/IMG_4100.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>So the wonderful ladies there confirmed what My husband & friends have told me about my blooming-nine patch.. to leave the center fabric that I'm not crazy about alone.<br />
<br />
SO after finally making that decision it was time to pick a backing. I was lucky enough to fine this fabric in the close-out room for half -price<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKTbsGy2Fnd6CXtSBtJDBfYDK7BEezLrzwkIZMoF7AcXjCnxmD033gU0e2rutNd0uOFosZUjCgYCr76QgEysYH6JpRzbbiYs6x1mFiJe50Rb8BWYwpm4uxRdkN_QlchY0JT0ZD8HEzjok/s1600-h/IMG_4119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKTbsGy2Fnd6CXtSBtJDBfYDK7BEezLrzwkIZMoF7AcXjCnxmD033gU0e2rutNd0uOFosZUjCgYCr76QgEysYH6JpRzbbiYs6x1mFiJe50Rb8BWYwpm4uxRdkN_QlchY0JT0ZD8HEzjok/s320/IMG_4119.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>I think it will go nicely together.. and at half-price, I couldn't beat it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiobLavfzKqu6AMOQQlsjKKNj-DzPnYD0LttucYKv0cM2_4W9K94cnW7RyuiJ0KbEIytk-7D6_iE_-9Ihyphenhyphen5g7aXy2qIIzQqgwm-jh8Tq1jWsxr8aYlDEwEdqgfZcgZ_QNIiI3Xc5k05_Xc/s1600-h/IMG_4121.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiobLavfzKqu6AMOQQlsjKKNj-DzPnYD0LttucYKv0cM2_4W9K94cnW7RyuiJ0KbEIytk-7D6_iE_-9Ihyphenhyphen5g7aXy2qIIzQqgwm-jh8Tq1jWsxr8aYlDEwEdqgfZcgZ_QNIiI3Xc5k05_Xc/s320/IMG_4121.JPG" /></a><br />
</div>I also bought a few funky fat quarters ~ not quite sure what I'll do with them, but I just love 'em!!<br />
<br />
<br />
And lastly, I bought a pattern for an Amy Butler bag that looks oh-so-cute! I will attempt it with scraps to make sure that It comes out right, then I will pick one of Amy's wonderful fabrics to make one 'for-real'..<br />
<br />
and that will mean.. another trip to Tumbleweeds!!!!<br />
<br />
Time to put the borders on my quilt!! oxox<br />

At my daughter's school, I am teaching a group of 7th & 8th graders the basics on how to quilt after school one day a week. They are each making a quilt for The 'Quilts for Kids' organization.<br />
<br />
*A GREAT organization, BTW*<br />
